How our career-readiness model works

The Employability Score Platform connects four practical tasks: assess readiness, prepare for a target role, build professional proof, and review information that may come up in hiring.

This page explains the product sequence, not a scoring formula. We review instructions and workflows as people use the model. We will not publish claims about a score or result unless we can explain what supports them.

1. Assess the starting point

A useful assessment starts with a role or direction. Custom assessments and progress insights can help a person compare what they know with the work they want to do. The result is an input for planning. It is not a verdict on a person's potential and does not decide whether an employer should hire them.

2. Learn through focused practice

Once a gap is clear, learning should lead to work that a learner can explain or use. START Canada's Career Readiness Bootcamps and events connect technical topics, professional profile development, job-search strategy, and project work through StartJobs.ca and the platform's Events area. The exact learning path depends on the person's goal and starting point.

3. Build a profile from real records

The Professional Profile organizes a resume, education and industry credentials, achievements, Employability Score results, available verification information, and a self-introduction video. The Authenticity Certificate gives the person a way to share selected evidence. It does not make every record relevant to every job.

4. Review and verify hiring information

Self Check Verification helps a candidate review information that an employer may consider and prepare context before hiring becomes urgent. Verification and skills assessment answer different questions. A verification result does not prove that a person can perform a role, and an assessment does not confirm identity or background information.

How we improve the model

The web and mobile experiences follow the same path between assessment, practice, profile building, and self-check work. We review where instructions are unclear and improve the connections between those tasks.

We do not treat the model as a guarantee of employment. Users decide what they share, and employers remain responsible for their own job requirements and hiring decisions. See the platform overview for current capability and program descriptions.
